The Sound

I love music. Always have.  I like scouring the web looking for and listening to all the new sounds that artists put out.  I'm constantly amazed by it. Here's what this month sounded like for me...

Two of my "auto-buy" bands released their long awaited albums this month, so I didn't "hunt" for music much this month, since I was consumed by these albums.  I thought I would share a few of my favorite tracks from each of them. I hope you enjoy as much as I do. 

My Morning Jacket actually released "Circuital" May 31st, but that's basically this month.  I've loved with this band since their 3rd studio album "Z" released in 2005, and I know it has everything to go with it's front man Jim James. His vocals give me chills... especially when he hits those high notes. I find myself purchasing anything he stars in; from his solo stuff as Yim Yames, to collaborations like The Monsters of Folk or Dark Was the Night. Yeah, I'm a big fan.  And since it's about 3 years between album releases for them, I've been anxious for this one for a little bit.  Here are a few of the tracks I find myself playing over and over.

Bon Iver holds a special place in my heart... and its not just because I have major fan girl crush on the lead singer Justin Vernon. I swear that's not it.  His vocals give me chills, and the unique instruments and sounds you hear while running through an album blow me away.  He's another artist who I "watch" (in a non creepy way... kinda) and I swoop up everything with him it, from Volcano Choir to singles off the "New Moon" soundtrack.  I devour them all. I don't think there's anything else like them out there. This album is meant to be heard from start to finish, but here are a few of my favorites from their latest.
