Coming Up...

Apologies in advance if what I'm about to say is going to piss off the people that are still getting snow out there, but this week was the hottest week of the year here.  It was in the 80s for a couple of days!  Since we don't have AC I spent a couple of days this past week doing nothing but reading underneath the 1 fan we have in the house. It's gonna be a hot summer if this was a little taste of what's ahead.

With the hot weather we received a visitor looking for relief, and she's been hanging out in our backyard ever since.  She seems to be sticking; it might have something to do with the fact that I bring her food and water all day.  We're trying to decide on a name for her, and my husband is determined to name her "Whiskers" and I have to keep reminding him that he's not a 72 year old woman.   But her whiskers are the whitest I've ever seen, so I do get it.  I've never had experience "adopting" an outdoor cat, so if anyone's got any suggestions, lay 'em on me!

So it's obviously April now, and as I pulled up this month's calendar I realized how many great books are coming out. It's gonna be a busy reading month. There are both series starters and additions to some of my favorite series out there. I'm a happy book geek.  What book are you most excited about this month?  Here's what else is happening around here...

Books In:
My good friend Kristin at MyBookishWays lent me Song of Scarabaeus by Sara Screasy so I can finally start that series. Woo! I also got in The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins because apparently I'm not the only person who hasn't read it yet... my book club selected it for this month's read.

Reading:
I'm finishing up Kevin Hearne's Hounded today and then I think I'm going to start the Scarabaeus series... it's been too long since I've read a sci-fi. And then I finally get to read Suzanne McLeod's latest, The Cold Kiss of Death. SQUEEE

Upcoming Events:
This month there are going to be giveaways, and ARC reviews, and Behind the Pen entries, so be sure to keep coming back for all that goodness.

  3. I wonder if it has something to do with the fact you bring the kitty food and water...LMAO! It's gonna be a great month on your blog! Looking forward to it!

  4. Oh I'm so happy to see about your little kitty! I would probably go with something like Whiskers...but with all the books you read I'm sure you can come up with some unique names. I am a HUGE animal lover...so here is some advise from the heart. If you really want to keep this kitty and you don't think she belongs to anyone else then adopt away! Another big question is if she will be an indoor or outdoor cat or both. I hope you are feeding her cat food, that's the best for their nutrient requirements...of course she is probably finding some yummy little mammals on her own. I would also suggest if you are serious about it take her to the vet and get her a good check over and the shots she needs so she will stay healthy and happy. The vet can give you good direction on indoor/outdoor cats and about declawing if you want her to be an indoor cat. :-) I'm not going to lie Jess, I saw this whole thing about the cat and couldn't concentrate on the rest of your post. I'm so sorry about that!
