Notes on a Challenge...

So, I've finally finished my self-imposed book challenge, and umm yeah I've decided I'm not a fan. For one, it didn't stop me from buying books this month. I still purchased several including, A Sweet Scent of Blood by Suzanne McLeod, Grave Witch by Kalayna Price, and Night Shift by Lilith Saintcrow. But yet I couldn't read a single one of them.  I've book-blocked myself!  But, more importantly, it made me realize that I am definitely one of those people who is driven by their impulses.  I am a fan of the shiny and new.  And I'm secure enough to admit, that I quite like walking around in my fantasy bookshop every week.  I leisure through the isles and find a section to look through hoping to find some new book that's going to blow my mind.   So although I am really happy that I've read all the books I've set out to read this month, and not a minute too soon I might add, I'm glad to be through with it.
In the words of Queen... "I want to break free"

  1. Yippee for us impulse readers! And "I've book-blocked myself" <-- very funny! Yeah, I'm all for you getting rid of your challenges and just following your heart. You can still make a list of what you hope to read, but just make sure that you can sneak books here and there if something catches your fancy! :)

  2. I like challenging myself every month I find it fun. Finding out what I can do and what I can't. Although I do find trying to stop myself from buying books for an entire month a waste of time because I always cave in and buy something!
I liked the 'I want to break free' now you can read as you please :)

  3. Julie & Ally: Yup, maybe challenge myself to go ahead and read a certain book I've been putting off, but not decide my entire lineup for a month. Booo..bad idea. :)

  4. Oh I have McLeods book here on my shelf too! We need to read that one on our discussions. :) After we get to Kelly Gay's second book. :) Sounds like you have really been working away on your challenge here. I think I have got myself into to many book chats at one time lately along with all the books I have here to review for authors. I just can't seem to read fast enough to keep up along with working and stuff around home. :) Oh well, at least I'm keep the authors in supply.

  5. Melissa: OOOH McLeod's book might be a great book for a discussion. And yes, I know we need to still do KG's #2 But lets let you get caught up before we get too carried away :)

  6. Thanks. :) I don't know if I will ever get caught up though. But I am thinking this month with building and packing will be crazy. Then moving in at the beginning of December. Oh, it is just crazy! But thank you for waiting for me. :)
